Growing up in Tunis, I often stumbled upon amazigh women, with unique face and hand tattoos. As a child with artistic inclination, Those body decorations fascinated me.
Due to society’s approach towards tattoos, I was given little to no space space to explore it, or even think about making tattooing my profession.
Moving to Vienna, Austria at the age of thirteen, questions of identity and belonging emerged, hence Tunisia isn’t my country of origin either. My family left Mesopotamia before my birth and I never had the chance to visit it.
I used my creative endeavour to find my roots. This root search collided with my lengthy interest in tattooing, brought me to fantasize about how an established tattooing tradition would look like in that region.
I use eastern mythological tales, from ancient Mesopotamia, Persia, Arabia as well as Amazigh and bedouin culture as a source of inspiration.
Tattoos have been used for medicinal and shamanic purposes since primordial times.
As a tattooer, I focus on getting to know my clients and their story behind the desired tattoo, do all I can to make it a personal and powerful experience.
